Heading Home
After leaving the shark tunnel we had to leave. We didn't see the penguins because there tank is being redone. We went up the escolater and we saw the shark tank from above. We also saw some divers getting out of the water. We left and went out the door into the gift shop. I wasn't sure what to get but I decided on getting a picture frame that said Newport Aquarium on it. When we left the gift shop we headed twards the parking grage. On our way there we went past a candy store. Knowing my Aunt Lisa I knew she wanted to go in so we did. They had a chocolate counter and a lot of different candies. After getting a few pieces of candy we went back to the car. When we got in the car we pulled out of the grage and on the road. I started to eat my candy and I thanked My Aunt Dawn and my Aunt Lisa for taking me to a fun day at the Newport Aquarium, and I would love to go back again.
Surrounded by Sharks
After the Jellyfish Gallary we went to the coolest things there. We were in the shark tunnel. It was just like the Amazon and Coral Reef tunnels, only this one was bigger and filled with sharks. When we first walked in we saw divers digging around in the sand in the bottom. Then someone told us that they were looking for shark teeth. One diver found one and was holding it up against the glass for people to see. We were looking aroung and saw the theater right next to us. We saw the two rare sharks we saw in the theater. We also saw the big Tiger Sharks. They were the scariest because there teeth stuck out of there mouth. It was scary when they swam above you or came out of no where and scared you. There were other animals to. There were a lot of different fish like Tuna. There was also a really cool sea turtle swimming around in there too. Later we saw another diver swimming around the tunnel cleaning the outside. There was also a diver with a white pole following him, just in case a shark got to close. It was so cool watching them, but we had to go on.
Amazon, Coral Reef and Jellyfish Gallary
After Lorikeet Land we went to the Amazon. It was a big tunnel that you walk through filled with fish from the Amazon River. They had a lot of cool fish. Some were really big and had big teeth. It was kind of scary watching the big ones swim over top of me. Right after the Amazon tunnel there was a Coral Reef tunnel. The coral reef was so pretty. There were so many colorful fish. It was so pretty watching them swim all around you. It was fun looking at at the fish swimming right next to me. I liked it when they looked at me. They were so close I could touch them. Right after the coral reef we went to the Jellyfish Gallary. It was so colorful. Most of the jellyfish were clear so they had all different colored lights shinning on them. This made them really cool looking. On some of the tanks there were dials that you could turn to change the color of the light. There was also a virtual game on the wall you could play where you had to touch the jellyfish but when you tride they swam away. It was fun walking through it.
Lunch and Shark Central
After seeing Mighty Mike was all agreed that we were hungry. We quickly walked to Sharkey's cafe. It smelled really good in there. We got in line for food. I got pepperoni pizza and funnel cake sticks. My Aunt Dawn and Aunt Lisa both got salads with ranch. I got a pepsi to drink. The pizza was really good. My Aunt Dawn and Aunt Lisa both said that the salad was good and fresh. I had a bite and I thought it was good too. When we finished lunch we went to a both to get the picture of us by the shark head developed. Then I walked right next to the both to Shark Central. There was a big tank with a bunch of little sharks that you can pet. It was so fun sticking my hand in and touching the sharks. They felt kind of rubbery and rough. It was weird and cool at the same time. There was also a cool light up poster that shows you all the insides and different parts of a shark. There also was a cool scale that weighs you and tells you what kind of shark you weigh the closest to. After doing all that we went back by Mighty Mike to continue on to the Frog Bog.
Frog Bog, Rainforest and Lorikeet Land
After walking back from lunch we went to the Frog Bog. They had some cool frogs and toads. Some were very colorful like the Red Eyed Tree Frog and the Poision Dart Frog. Others like some of the toads were just plain fat. In the Frog Bog there was a big Jungle Gym for kids to play on. There was also that big Frogger game. I wanted to play it, but there were to many little kids hogging it. We left the Frog Bog and went to the Rainforest. There was a big tank with two cute otters. They were playing with each other and having fun. When they jumped under water it was fun to watch them swim. They swam very fast. It was so cool watching them. Right next to the otter tank was Lorikeet Land. There was a stand to buy nectar to feed them, and ponchos so you don't get pooped on. I got some necter but I didn't get a poncho. I went in but none of the birds were hungry. I tride putting the nectar in front of them but they wouldn't take it. It was later in the day so a lot of people probobly already came in to feed them. When I was holding my cup up to one of the birds, it almost pooped on my hand. Luckely I pulled my hand away fast enough, so it barely missed. After that I was ready to get out of there making sure I didn't look up. I stopped on my way out to look at a huge snake. I think it was a really big Boa Constrictor. He had recently sheded so there were really big shedings all over the tank. Then I quickly made my was out of there and headed on.
Ohio Riverbank and Gator Bayou
After Turtle Town we went to the Ohio Riverbank. They had a lot of cool fish from the Ohio River. Some of the fish were really big. They were a few feet long. There was also little Bluegills and Sunfish. They were so cool. The tank they were in was cool to. the tank was really long and it didn't have a top so you could see above it. Then we went to the Gator Bayou. They had little alligators in a tank. They were fun to look at. The coolest thing there was a gator named Mighty Mike. He is the largest alligator in captivity. Mike is fourteen feet long and weighs eight hundred pounds! He was really big. The ladie said that he is on tour all around the country. After he leaves the Newport Aquarium he is going to Michigan. The ladie also said that they found him in a small pond. The tank he was in was cool. There was a bridge and the bottom was glass so you could see underneath. Luckely that is were he liked to sit, so we could see him petty clearly. His head itself was maybe a foot or two long by the look of it. I have never seen anything that big in my life!
Dangerous and Deadly and Turtle Town
After walking through Bizarre and Beautiful, we went to Dangerous and Deadly. There we saw some cool fish and snakes. One fish we saw was the Lion Fish. They were so cool. Lion Fish are stripped and have big fins. Lion Fish can be many different colors. We also saw some cool snakes. There were some cool rattle snakes and tree snakes. There were also some deep sea poisonous fish. They were really cool. After walking through Dangerous and Deadly, we went to Turtle Town. I loved seeing all the cute turtles. The only one that wasn't cute was the big Alligator Snapping Turtle. He was huge. He was in a pretty small tank, but they can stay in small tanks. The turtle looked just like a rock, so he was very well camofloged. He was really cool to look at though. All the other turtules were really cool too.
